The war bursts into Gostomel so quickly that Dan and Dina don't have time to use any of the escape scenarios they have thought out. They learn to live on the ashes of their own dreams, destroyed by the Russians in a matter of hours, just like the legendary Mriya plane. Dan's paralysed mother is in the couple's arms, the car was destroyed by shelling, and the high-rise was occupied by the occupiers. It won't be long before filtration starts in the basement where they are hiding with their neighbours. Trying to escape and catch the evacuation buses, Dan and Dina overcome obstacles and doubts. This is not only a novel about the first weeks of the full-scale invasion and the destruction of the Mriya, the largest cargo plane in the world. It is a moving story about people who, in the midst of the hell of war, remained true to their humanity, countering cruelty and violence with mutual aid and empathy.
