„Ex oriente lux”_x000D_
Congratulations to the authors of this first textbook focusing on the new,_x000D_
emerging field of telecardiology._x000D_
This textbook is a very important step to spread more knowledge to_x000D_
clinical cardiologists – from the basics to practical issues of this new facet_x000D_
of digital cardiology._x000D_
For me it is not a surprise that this important textbook was written and_x000D_
published in Poland first._x000D_
Pioneer work in the field, e.g. the TELEREH-HF trial, was performed in a nationwide network of_x000D_
telemedical centers._x000D_
Moreover, the Polish colleagues are working hard and with open mind._x000D_
So, there is a constant exchange of new ideas even from abroad and the cooperation with international_x000D_
experts, which represents another success factor for the telecardiology in Poland._x000D_
Finally, the translation of this textbook into English is a consistent next step taken to extend_x000D_
its audience for the benefit of our patients._x000D_

Heart failure remains a significant challenge for health care systems_x000D_
worldwide. As the medical world strives to reduce the incidence of this_x000D_
disease and provide patients with more comprehensive care, the telemanagement_x000D_
of heart failure patients offers a promising solution._x000D_
This book presents the role of different forms of e-Health – including_x000D_
e-education and self-monitoring, internet/mobile applications, structured_x000D_
telephone support, telemonitoring, telerehabilitation, remote monitoring_x000D_
of cardiovascular implantable electronic devices, and haemodynamic implantable_x000D_
electronic devices – in providing optimal longterm management_x000D_
of heart failure patients._x000D_
Introducing telecardiology to everyday clinical practice requires educating both patients and_x000D_
medical teams (physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists). In this respect, it is a unique_x000D_
book devoted to the use of remote monitoring in the comprehensive care of heart failure_x000D_
patients. The role of telemedicine in the management of chronic diseases is supported by_x000D_
European, American, and international scienti c societies._x000D_
I would like to congratulate the authors of this magnificent book, which will be extremely useful_x000D_
to fellow cardiologists as well as our cardiac patients._x000D_
